Rock Balancing in San Francisco

Rock Balancing
Sausalito is located across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. It is a wonderful town filled with historical buildings, art galleries and is a favorite destination for many Californians. We visit this beautiful setting on San Francisco Bay once a year and enjoy a quiet and beautiful walk along the waterfront. We usually stop along the sidewalk and order ice cream cones for the family.
Do you believe in Magic? I do now! Even if you are somewhat skeptical the reality of this unique art form is here for you to enjoy first hand. I saw it in person and also took several wonderful photos with my camera which I saved as a memorable recording of my own experience.
A couple of years ago we were visiting the waterfront near San Francisco located in the town of Sausalito, California. We were just taking a walk along the veranda eating our ice cream cones when we came across a site to behold!
I had never seen such a remarkable sight anywhere. It was a man balancing rocks without any tools or tricks of any kind. He was setting one rock after another one on top of the other and BALANCING them as if by magic!
He is famous for his casual performance using all sizes and shapes and weights of rocks to create a remarkable and memorable setting. Sea Gulls even sit on the rocks sometimes and they do not collapse! I asked myself how in the world can he do this? So I asked him about it. First he asked me for a tip before he would allow me to take a photo. He was very mystical about his explanation to me and added a comment about how he was gifted with this ability.
Rock Balancing Magic
Amazing Sight!
He finds wonder and harmony in balancing rocks which can weigh between 5 and 40 pounds each. He believes he has been given a gift from God and truly enjoys being able to do this unique form of art. He also states that is an activity which requires a calm mind. You cannot do it with your mind full of thoughts. You must relax and have patience he says.
The writer of an article I read stated that he actually tried to do this for ten minutes himself and could not get the rocks to balance. One of the rocks fell and hit him in the ankle proving that this could be a dangerous new hobby!
Travel has always been one of my favorite experiences. Seeing a new place and enjoying the scenery and fresh air swept in from the ocean are definitely worth the time and planning. Do enjoy other sights when you have a chance to visit this enchanted and perfect place for adventure. Taking trips on the local tourist boats is a spectacular way to get out on the Bay! I have taken the trip from Vallejo on the Bay ferry boat to San Francisco several times and always enjoy the cruise. Parking my car in Vallejo allows me to enjoy the trip without any freeway traffic.
If you are very lucky you will be able to see this Rock Balancing activity for yourself. It is something that is purely unscheduled and impromptu. It is surely one of my personal seven wonders of the world. Enjoy the art galleries and restaurants along the waterfront too. Do not miss going to Sausalito when you take your trip to San Francisco.

Fantastic hub. One day while we were in SF on the beach we were astounded to see this guy doing this art with the rocks. It is amazing to watch him. It looks like a trick, like it would be impossible to do but it's real! This guy is amazing!!
